A Little About Alexis

My coaching story

Before I became a life coach, I had a life coach. It was sort of on a whim, actually, like many things in my life were. What happened was, a friend's aunt was getting trained to become a certified coach, the friend reached out to me asking if I'd be interested in getting coached - and my reaction was, "Someone to fix my life? Yes, please!" It's not that my life was so bad or anything, but, I certainly had insecurities, trouble making decisions, and a desire for someone else to tell me what to do. Here's the thing I found out: coaching is not about coaches fixes anything. There is nothing to be fixed. It's not about telling anyone what to do, either. Coaching is about you, the client, discovering for yourself what's important to you. What you want to do with your time. How you want to show up.

I remember one session, my coach had me look at various parts of my life and consider how satisfied - how happy - I was with these parts. I hadn't even realized there were all these parts. That was eye-opening. What was more eye-opening was seeing how much more fulfilled I knew I wanted to be.

Some breakthroughs, new habits, and leaving-a-job-that-wasn't-for-me later, l opened up a new door: Coach trainings, certifications, peer clients, real clients. Failures and successes. Lots of learnings. So much fulfillment (I was looking for that, wasn’t I?). After years of being lost career-wise, it really feels like I'm getting a chance at a second life. Like I'm giving myself that life, is really what I mean.

What I'm up to now is simple: giving my clients eye-opening moments, helping them discover what a fulfilling life means to them, and revealing new opportunities, the way my coach did for me.

Along with my private practice, I am a professional coach for Boon Health and Lyra Health, two top mental-wellbeing platforms. I live in Brooklyn New York and coach clients anywhere there is an internet connection. :)
