FAQs
The Big Picture
What is coaching?
Coaching is a partnership, designed to help you overcome challenges and reach your goals - both personally and professionally. Through meaningful conversation and exercises, coaching is a modality that helps you get from where you are to where you want to go. Rather than providing you with answers (I don’t have the answers!), I’ll be asking you questions that will reveal the answers for you.
What’s the difference between coaching and therapy?
Both professions help clients with what’s going on in their lives. Most clients tend to seek therapy to overcome past trauma, work through an acute crisis, or treat psychological disorders. Coaching is very forward thinking and helps you develop and achieve goals; it starts with the now and moves toward a desired future.
Me & My Clients
What are your credentials?
I am a PCC ICF-certified coach with more than 500 hours of coaching experience, working with nearly a hundred clients across the board. I received my coach training (CPC and ELI-MP credentials) with the Institute of Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC). Always people-centric, I hold a MS in Hospitality from New York University and a course certificate from Yale University’s “The Science of Well-Being.”
What’s your coaching approach?
My approach is supportive, uplifting, and highly personalized. I help with inner work (mindset, energy), as well as outer work (strategizing, action plans, and next steps). I share tangible tools and exercises to help clients uncover, or rediscover, their potential.
Who do you coach?
I work with higher functioning individuals to help them work on mindset, gain insight, and strategize so they can reach their goals. My clients tend to be ambitious, self-proclaimed “over achievers” or “people pleasers,” who have forgotten the most important thing on their to-do list: themselves.
Since 2019, I’ve worked with dozens of clients in both short-term and long-term engagements – from students, to creatives, to small business owners, to folks of all levels at Google, Netflix, and Uber. Regardless of their role, my clients are seeking greater fulfillment and wellbeing - to feel happier, more satisfied, and more at peace in their lives. Through coaching, they adopt new perspectives, create new habits, and make real changes that support the person they want to become.
What are clients coming to you for help with?
Someone who would benefit from coaching with me is saying things like, “I want to…”
“Feel more confident in my decisions and not worry so much!”
“Feel more motivated and excited about opportunities in my life and at work.”
“Make space for myself in my own life. Currently I let work consume me…”
“Become a better me, both professionally and personally.”
“Be generally happier and more present.”
The Nitty-Gritty
How do we meet?
We meet by video chat (Zoom) or phone, your preference. I’m honored to coach clients across the United States and internationally too.
How often do we meet?
My coaching is highly personalized to each client, so how often we meet depends on your personal situation and needs – and how quickly you’d like to see results. What works well for most clients is 3 times per month or bi-weekly, for about an hour each session. A true partnership, we don’t need to wait until the next session to speak again; I’m available via text, email, and even phone support between sessions.
How long do engagements last?
Coaching can last for “a reason, a season, or a lifetime.” I meet with some clients for 3 months, others for years. We’ll meet for as long or as little as the engagement is effective.
What do I need to do to prepare for our engagement?
Once we begin a coaching partnership, I’ll send you a worksheet that’ll get you thinking about what you want to accomplish in coaching. It’s a way to get clear and start moving in the direction you want to go. Other than that, the best way to prepare is to be open and to be yourself.
Is there homework involved in coaching?
Some of my clients LOVE a good worksheet, journaling prompt, or assignment – others not so much. There’s no right or wrong; I’ll work with you to make sure you’ve got just what you need.
Are conversations confidential?
Yes, 100%.
Please know I follow the ICF Code of Ethics, which recognizes certain limitations of confidentiality (ie. illegal behavior or suspicion of abuse/harm, which are to be reported).
What are your fees?
As each engagement is customized, so is the investment.
How do we get started?
The first step is to see if we’re a good fit, and we can do that by having a conversation. I’ll learn a bit about you, you can ask me any questions you have, and we’ll take it from there! Simply email me at alexis@alexisbrookecoaching or schedule a call.
